Applying for a course
There are no set deadlines for applying to an English language course – you can apply at any time. We recommend applying as early as possible before your chosen start date, to make sure you get a place on the course you want.
All English language centres manage their own admissions. There is no central application system. Visit the centre’s website or contact them directly to find out how to apply.
Course entry requirements
Every English language centre also sets its own entry requirements, to ensure that you have the right skills and knowledge to successfully complete the course.
1.For many courses, there are no formal entry requirements.
2.For some courses, you may have to show evidence of your language skills – either by taking a test set by the centre, or by showing you have English language qualifications. This ensures that you will be placed on a course that is right for your skills.

Visa entry requirements
Depending on your nationality, you may need a visa to study in the UK. Visas are managed by UK Visas and Immigration.

Course entry requirements
Every UK higher education course sets its own entry requirements. These entry requirements are there to ensure that you have the right skills and knowledge to successfully complete the course.
You can see the entry requirements for each undergraduate and postgraduate course on the university or college’s website.
1.For undergraduate courses you usually need to have achieved further education qualifications (such as A-levels, International Baccalaureate, Scottish Highers, or equivalent qualifications from your country) in related subjects. Find out more at UCAS or ask your chosen university or college.
2.For postgraduate courses you usually need to have achieved a relevant undergraduate qualification.
3.In some cases, work experience may count towards entry to a course.
4.If English isn’t your first language, the university or college may ask you to take an English language test or show your English language qualifications before you can enrol. Applying for a course
For most further education courses, you need to apply directly to your chosen school, college or university. Most institutions have application forms on their website.
There are no national closing dates for applications to further education courses. However, it is best to apply as early as you can, to reserve a place on your chosen course and to give yourself time to organise visas, travel and accommodation. Institutions usually aim to process applications within two or three weeks, but others may take longer.
